Dear colleagues,
It is a pleasure to address you once again through our journal. At the start of 2025, the second year of this Board’s administration, we are facing new challenges and opportunities.
As I mentioned in previous issues, we have successfully established the long-awaited ACIBA (Buenos Aires Interventional Cardiologists Association), bringing together colleagues from Buenos Aires City and its surroundings, spanning from La Plata to Pilar.
This union initiative, a step taken by CACI, will allow us to negotiate locally with our funders and healthcare centers (clinics and sanatoriums) regarding medical fees, to try and separate fees from practice modules in a near future. This progress brings us closer to the goal of uniting various associations across the country to form a federation (which would be CACI) as an integrating and regulating body.
Currently, there are professional associations in the following Argentinian provinces: Cordoba (ACIC), Entre Rios (Entre Rios Hemodynamics and Endovascular Therapies Association), Salta (Salta Civil Association of Interventional Cardiology), and Santa Fe (Santa Fe Interventional Cardiology Association), as well as ACIBA, as previously mentioned. Associations in San Luis, La Rioja, and Misiones are currently in process of being created.
As regards training, we are about to launch a new cohort of the Specialization in Hemodynamics, General Angiology, and Interventional Cardiology course of studies, along with the SOLACI-CACI Advanced Postgraduate Course in Hemodynamics and Interventional Cardioangiology and the SOLACI-CACI Training Course in Hemodynamics (aimed at technologists, nurses, and surgical technologists).
Regarding our participation in international congresses, we are already in talks with PCR, organizing a joint presentation with another international society. This time we will participate alongside the Colombian association, and the topic will be CTO (chronic total occlusions) in the “How Should I Treat” session, similar to what we have done in previous years.
We are also in talks with TCT. While we have not yet defined the type of session or working modality with them, they have proposed involving young cardiologists in scientific presentations, and we are working on that idea.
Concerning our annual Congress, we have already chosen the venue: the Mar del Plata Costa Galana Hotel. It should be noted that this is an election year for CACI, involving a change of authorities. I believe it will be a highly engaging event, and I look forward to your participation.
We remain committed to organizing an even better Congress and we have a great year ahead. I believe that the best way to strengthen our specialty and achieve the recognition it deserves is through the active participation of all of us. Therefore, I invite all members to get involved and contribute to improving our specialty and our College.
Let’s aim for a great 2025. Kind regards,
Dr. Juan Fernández
